My Gym is Different

One of our gym members forwarded this video to me and told me that they felt like it could have been made about CrossFit Catacombs. Thank you for that very generous compliment. The video was made by CrossFit New England, undoubtedly one of the truly outstanding gyms in the CrossFit world.

CrossFit gyms share many similarities and are generally focused on the same broad goal...to improve people's lives through fitness. Our equipment generally looks similar, our workout spaces are characteristically sparse, our whiteboards universally chaotic and illegible, and our workouts undoubtedly challenging. But every gym has its own personality and its own identity. Each gym goes about accomplishing that goal in widely diverse ways. You, the community of Catacombs, are what make our gym different. Yes, we have set the expectation that a minimum we will know one another's names. We help each other buildup or breakdown equipment and are united by the challenge of facing our fears in the form of a workout. But I believe it goes deeper than that. As a coaching staff, we care deeply about each and every one of you and we take the trust you have put in us very seriously. It is incredibly gratifying to watch you demonstrate that caring and concern for each other every single day. I do not believe there is a finer community of athletes out there and I am privileged to get to coach you every day.
