As many of you know, Catacombs will be hosting a fundraising event for Alternative Horizons on Nov 15th. If you haven't heard, check out the previous blog post here. If you have, read on to learn more about Alternative Horizons. I think you will agree that they are a cause worth supporting. We will be supporting AH by requesting a $25 donation at the door for all participants. Catacombs will match the first $500 of donations. Food and drinks are being donated by Macho's (thanks Beto)!

Alternative Horizons (AH) has been an integral part of our community since 1978. For 36 years AH has provided comprehensive domestic violence services to our families, friends and neighbors. You, as fellow community members, understand the importance of these services, because chances are, you know someone who has needed them.  In 2013, Alternative Horizons supported 792 individuals through our 24-hour crisis hotline; counseling and therapy for adults and children; civil legal representation; and criminal court advocacy.

24/7/365 Crisis Hotline & Advocacy Services:  This service provides trained Volunteer Advocates and AH staff who give immediate and ongoing assistance, support, and advocacy to victim/survivors through a 24-hour hotline and office phone.

Bridges of Hope Legal Project:  This service provides civil legal representation and consultation to victim/survivors in cases of divorce/legal separation, child custody, child support, and other civil matters stemming from domestic violence.  Additionally, this program provides advocacy and support to victim/survivors whose perpetrators have been arrested and are going through the criminal justice system.

Adult Therapy/ Counseling Services:  This service provides individual and group therapy/counseling for adult victim/survivors.

Youth Therapy/Counseling Services:  This service provides individual and group therapy/counseling to youth and children who have either witnessed domestic violence in their homes or who have been victimized by dating violence.

Multicultural Services:  This service provides bilingual and bicultural staff that provides culturally appropriate outreach and direct services to Hispanic/Latino and Native American survivors.

So, start working on your friends, coworkers, and workout buddies. This one is open to everyone and will be scaled to an option that everyone can complete.
