Patient Practice happened this week too.
Patient Practice happened this week too.

What a fantastic week, friends. The kickoff of Power Hour has been an incredible success. If you aren't sure what I'm talking about, see the previous post. Our Whole Life Challenge crew is entering their 4th week and I've heard so many of you comment on how much better you are feeling...both mentally and physically. It's not all sunshine and roses, but good things are happening. Attendance has been sky high with a rocking evening crew and PRs have been rampant. The apparel pre-order has been huge and will go in this weekend. There are many new faces and it is always a moment of pride when I watch the seasoned veterans greet the new folks and introduce themselves.

From the coaches' view at the front of the room, we get to see a lot of cool things. We talk so much about patient practice, getting the form right, and understanding the intent of the workout that sometimes I feel like a broken record. Yet I was reminded again this week of why these things are so important. Overhead squats are one of those movements that reward technique (and mobility) over pure strength. Not so long ago, more than half of you would have modified to front squats or used an empty training bar (or PVC) for this movement. In fact I always cringed when I programmed them as I knew it would be a massive source of frustration for so many of you. It was such a victory this week to watch your patient practice and willingness to dig in reward all of you with legitimate gains. Sure, many of you still struggle with this movement but you have come SO FAR. Nicely done, athletes.

Don't forget Saturday class and Open Gym. And you might as well go ahead and sign up for your classes for next week.
