Hey Catacombs Family—

The Annual Member Survey went out on Friday to all our members. If you haven’t seen it, check your junk mail…sometimes that happens. If you still can’t find it, send us an email to [email protected] and we will get it out to you. Your suggestions, input and feedback matter to us. For those of you who have already filled it out, thank you. It is through your honest assessment and constructive criticism that we identify and address our weaknesses. It also lets us know what you like about what we are doing now. Both are equally important. We will accept responses through Friday when we will begin sifting through it to see how we are doing.

As for the Sunday reflection piece, our family is enjoying a rare “down weekend”. We travel a lot on weekends for our kids’ nordic ski events, bike races, or just family adventures. It is a busy life but I suspect that it is one to which many of you can relate. I love those weekends away where memories are made and we step out of the day to day routine, but I love a weekend at home to get caught up, sleep a little more, and even watch a movie with the whole family. For those of you participating in the Whole Life Challenge (WLC), you already know that this week’s lifestyle practice is around gratitude for the people in your life. It is a favorite practice of mine consisting of writing down the name of someone important to you then expounding on why. If you aren’t participating in the WLC this time around, no worries. Feel free to take on the lifestyle practice any way. It is a great way to get some perspective on the things that are right in your life.

Next, it is pretty much impossible to ignore that Snowdown is happening this week. It’s a great time to celebrate many of the awesome things about Durango…especially since we have snow this year! We will be running regular classes all week (except the 6 PM class for the Rowing Regatta) but prepared for the extra people and festivities downtown this week. Most importantly, stay safe and make good decisions.

Finally, the Catacombs Games are just around the corner. As always, we will be looking for lots of volunteers to help pull this off. For a very small minority, the games are a competition. For the rest of us, it is the best community event of the year. Get ready to have some fun, make some new friends, and suffer just a little bit in that way that you all love as we embark on the 2019 version of the Catacombs Games.
