Finding Time

I was complaining to a friend this week about not getting a workout in even though I had really wanted to. You guys know that I spend A LOT of time at Catacombs. One would think that it would be easy to just squeeze a workout in between classes or jump into a group class that another coach was leading. One would think...

Still, just like you, I often find myself at the end of a day frustrated that I did not make a workout happen in spite of my best intentions. And as we have talked about so many times, that is often a setup for a downhill slide into a whole host of other poor decisions around nutrition, managing stress, self-image, etc. So why do we still let this happen? Well, because life happens. A kid gets sick or an unexpected work deadline throws us off track. Certainly there are some unavoidable obstacles that get in the way. But most of the time, those are actually justifications for an unconscious decision made earlier in the day or the week that my workout time is a luxury, not a priority.

You have heard me say that we make take for the things that are important to us. I believe this to be true. But I also believe that a serious dose of realistic planning makes those important things a reality. Like most of you, I am never going to find myself with an extra hour in the day and decide to use it for a workout. So I can't honestly say that my workout is a priority unless I have scheduled the time to make it happen.

Have you signed up for your workout times this week?
