Meet Tiffany

When did you start at Catacombs and why?

I believe I started at Catacombs last September. I had gone to CFD two summers ago and really enjoyed cross fit but could never make any of the class times during the school year so I just stopped going. My friend Jill told me about this new gym in town that she was going to and how awesome it was. I was super interested in getting back into cross fit and it just happened to work out that I had Tom and Tracie's daughter Maggie in my class. So I asked Tracie a few questions about it, and showed up the next day to the 530 AM class. I absolutely loved it and haven't stopped since! I love the "competitive" drive I get from crossfit because I grew up playing sports, as well as the team support, and friendships I have gained.

What do you do to pay the bills?

I am currently a 4th grade teacher at Needham Elementary. This will be my 8th year at Needham. I also sling burritos at my cousins families restaurant!

How do you like to spend your time when not at work or the gym?

I really enjoy Muay Thai kickboxing and Brazilian jiu jitsu. I also love the outdoors camping, hiking, fishing anything like that.

What do you want to see on the whiteboard when you walk in for a workout (favorite movements, time domains, workout style, etc.)?

This is a tough one because I like so many different things. I really like AMRAPs and tabatas. I appreciate different WODs for different reasons and what each one can do for me.

What gives you a sense of dread when you see it on the whiteboard?

I am not super confident with my overhead squats or snatch ability, and need to work on those, but I would say rowing is something I'm not super fond of at all.

How do you use your fitness outside of the gym or why do you care about being fit?

A lot of the things I like to do outside the gym are also physical activities and that you need to be in some kind of shape for. I have really seen it translate into my kickboxing and jiu jitsu. I have just always loved working out and being fit.

What's your favorite motivational quote, song, or ritual?

I like listening to Kongos, T-Swift, or faster upbeat hip hop or rock. There are so many good quotes but I have had to say this one a few times during WODs, "Don't stop when it hurts, stop when you're done."

Name one thing you want to achieve in the gym in 2015.

Get a bar muscle up, and find more confidence in overhead squats and snatches. More specifically I'd like to deadlift with good form over 200 lbs.

What else do you have to say for yourself?

If I don't workout my whole attitude changes and I get really irritated. I love this community and am so glad I stepped through the doors that September morning!
