Meet Roseann

When did you start at Catacombs and why? I started classes last Fall.  I had been going to another gym, but found the larger classes intimidating and getting lost in the crowd made pushing myself more difficult.  I knew I needed more instruction with form and someone to push me harder than I would push myself.  My first visit to Catacombs was a “Murph” fundraiser for Alternative Horizons.  I immediately felt at home and began classes that week.

What do you do to pay the bills? I have the great fortune of working for La Plata Family Centers Coalition, a local non-profit serving families with a wide variety of services.

How do you like to spend your time when not at work or the gym? I love spending time with my two children and dogs.  We camp almost every weekend and usually take other toys with us like our paddle boards or mountain bikes. In the winter months we ski, snowshoe and explore more southern parts of the southwest.

What do you want to see on the whiteboard when you walk in for a workout (favorite movements, time domains, workout style, etc.)? The workouts I like best are the ones that have the highest number of reps without rounds.

What gives you a sense of dread when you see it on the whiteboard? Rowing.  I am still trying to get the rhythm right so I can be more efficient.

How do you use your fitness outside of the gym or why do you care about being fit? I use fitness outside the gym to keep up with my 12 year old son on his mountain bike.  At least I try not to have him wait hours for me to finish a trail.  I have been interested in being fit for years, although in the past I would train for an event and then settle back into a routine that was easy.  When I commit to a regular routine that challenges me both mentally and physically,  I feel better in every aspect of my life.  With consistent exercise, I get better rest, feel more energized, have more patience with work and family, and have a more positive attitude in general.

What's your favorite motivational quote, song, or ritual? “I am and I will”.

Name one thing you want to achieve in the gym in 2015. Pull ups without a band!

What else do you have to say for yourself? I love being around the Catacombs family. No matter what time of day I sign up for a class, it is always a unique and exciting experience.  People care about people here.  As my favorite Winnie the Pooh quote states: “as soon as I saw you, I knew an adventure was going to happen”.  In so many ways, this is Catacombs to me.
