Many of us have made Durango our home because the rivers and mountains that surround us are our playground. The snow, the rapids, the trails are where we are happiest and they call us to come and explore and play. We understand...we hear those voices too.

But Durango is also home to a growing number of athletes for whom these sports are more than just recreational passions. Durango boasts a number of accomplished endurance athletes that have reached the highest levels of their sports and an even greater number with their sites set on such greatness. While sport-specific training is critical for these athletes, a well-rounded strength and conditioning program is also of paramount importance. Without it, endurance athletes are at risk of developing imbalances that lead to acute injuries, overuse injuries, and burnout. This is where CrossFit comes in.

CrossFit Endurance was developed by Coach Brian MacKenzie to address just such deficiencies. CrossFit Endurance does not mean taking CrossFit workouts and making them longer. That leads to the same overtraining and injury risk as excessive sport-specific training. CrossFit Endurance is a completely different way of training geared toward engineering your body to work at maximum capacity for sustained periods, recover quickly, and be ready to perform again. The philosophy as described by CFE:

"Power and speed are critical components to success in the endurance world. With careful planning, our strength and conditioning plan increases these two mainstays of performance while decreasing recovery time, reducing injury, promoting preservation of lean tissue and creating a more sustainable performance curve. We focus on eliminating unnecessary volume of training while increasing intensity. Our strength and conditioning approach for endurance athletes is unparalleled. We incorporate the CrossFit fundamentals of being constantly varied. Repetition is the enemy and results in a decreased ability to build fitness. Make no doubt, our program is not easy, but we believe the journey is part of making the results more rewarding. Our design is to maximize you as an athlete and to elevate your fitness."

This is not your typical long-slow distance training program. Every workout is designed to elicit a specific stimulus. There are no purposeless miles or wasted workouts. In 5 to 8 hours per week, this program will have you race ready and in the best shape of your life. 

As with CrossFit, CFE is an effective training tool for novices and professionals alike. All workouts are completely scalable. All that is required is an absolute commitment to giving 100% every single time you show up.
